Product Description
Vintage Solid Teak Ship's Bench
A truly once in a lifetime opportunity to have an original Ship's Deck Bench
from Kenya Castle. These beautiful SOLID heavy duty teak deck benches were
used onboard the Kenya Castle of the Union Castle Line. As well as a comfortable
bench for the passengers to sit on, these practical benches were also used to stow
life-jackets in the large compartment under the seat. The bench is in two parts;
the hinged seat and backrest, and the large trunk base. Nothing beats the quality of
the furniture that goes onboard prestigious passenger ships whether it be interior or
on the deck, especially those built up until the 1950's and early 60's. This bench was
crafted using the finest teak available at the time, not the poor quality plantation teak
you find these days and in true nautical fashion, all hinges and screws are made of brass.
Each section of the bench is made up of extremely thick teak (1" solid) and was made to
endure the harsh conditions caused by the heat of the sun and the cold & damp of the sea.
We only have two of these left. Shipped via Truck Freight or our own personal delivery
vehicle is preferred to prevent damage.
